Remdesivir is no longer a valid drug to give patients with COVID
Earlier this year, in spring, Remdesivir medication started to be considered as having a potential for treating COVID. Some countries have already bought a number of doses of it & even tried to vaccinate patients with it. However, yesterday the World Health Organization proved completely – Remdesivir could no longer be considered a valid remedy for the treatment of COVID, as its action is statistically indistinguishable from placebo.
Not only this remedy by Gilead did not help patients to recover but also it did not prevent to cut the death rate.
The step of authorizing this drug for emergencies connected to COVID-19 confused many market participants and caused much interest to it. Since then, numerous tests were made to prove its efficacy yet no significant results of the efficiency of treatment were found – in any country that has made its independent tests. Finally, the WHO recommended refraining from using this drug against COVID.
